It’s the early 1970s, and Ron Stallworth (John David Washington) is the first African-American detective to serve in the Colorado Springs Police Department. Determined to make a name for himself, Stallworth bravely sets out on a dangerous mission: infiltrate and expose the Ku Klux Klan. The young detective soon recruits a more seasoned colleague, Flip Zimmerman (Adam Driver), into the undercover investigation of a lifetime. Together, they team up to take down the extremist hate group as the organisation aims to sanitise its violent rhetoric to appeal to the mainstream.
BlacKkKlansman is possibly my favourite movie this year. It's hilarious, brilliantly scripted and has an amazing cast.
John David Washington is hilarious and plays the part of Ron Stallworth perfectly. He is easily the standout performance. BlacKkKlansman is the movie we need as it addresses the issues of racism head on that are still very much around today.
The film has a fairly light hearted tone the whole way through right up until the very end when it really brings you back to reality.
BlacKkKlansman is a must see movie. Its clever, fun and sobering all at once. Spike Lee has done an incredible job with the film and I highly recommend that everyone goes to see it.
Clever, fun, and sobering all at once. BlacKkKlansman is one of the best surprises of the year and the movie we all need.
